Kotor is one of the best preserved medieval towns in south-eastern Europe, full of historic buildings. It is located on the picturesque Bay of Kotor on the Adriatic coast. A characteristic of medieval town planning are narrow, winding streets and irregular squares, magnificent temples and buildings in the styles of Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque. In recognition of exceptional historical value of Kotor, it was listed in 1979 at UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Kotor jest jednym z najlepiej zachowanych średniowiecznych miast w południowo-wschodniej Europie, pełen zabytkowych budowli. Położony jest malowniczo nad Zatoką Kotorską na wybrzeżu Adriatyku. Charakterystyczną średniowieczną urbanistykę stanowią wąskie, kręte uliczki i nieregularne place, wspaniałe świątynie i budynki w stylach romańskim, gotyckim, renesansowym i barokowym. W uznaniu wyjątkowej wartości historycznej części Kotoru, został on w roku 1979 wpisane na listę światowego dziedzictwa kulturalnego UNESCO.
