1. Travel security
Scan your documents, tickets and insurance papers and store them in your email account. You can also make copies and put them in a seperate bag than the originals.

2. Seperate your valuables
Split up your credit cards, cash, travellers' cheques and others and put them in different pockets, bags and wallets when packing. It decreases the chances of losing or getting robbed of everything you had.

3. Pack everything into plastic bags
You won’t need any suitcase dividers or separate backpack cases, you’ll make sure you don’t mix the clean and the dirty clothes, that your toiletries won’t leak and stain your stuff – hey, and you can use the bags as garbage bags or even as a makeshift umbrella.

4. Minimize on clothes and toiletries
When travelling for more than 2 weeks, plan to wash on the road. Sure it’s useful to have an extra pair of socks, but don’t exaggerate. When it comes to cosmetics, purchase small travel containers or take only half a tube of toothpaste (rolled up tight), also try and find any shampoo or body wash samples – they’re just wonderful when travelling.

5. Split up when travelling with others
When travelling with friends, divide the things that you’ve got to take between each other – take only one hair dryer, water heater, first-aid kit and so on. Remember it’s a journey - so share it! :)
